I absolutely love the fall, maybe it’s because I grew up in Connecticut and all the leaves looked to be on fire, there were rows and rows of pumpkins at the neighborhood farm, and as strange as it may sound, there was a “fall” scent in the air.

For me, fall is also the beginning of a new year. I know, I know, we all celebrate in January, but it’s the start of a new school year and the beginning of the holiday seasons, so to me, it’s a new beginning, a new chapter.

In this new chapter in order to move forward I feel it’s best to let go of what is not working in your life. The air is cooling, at least up here in the high dessert, and it’s gearing into winter, what a perfect moment to tuck in and take a personal inventory. It’s time to finally commit and let go of the things in your life you no longer need. What a perfect opportunity to let go, make changes, and release, before the up and coming holidays take hold.

Lets tackle the stuff you know in your heart of hearts is just not doing you any good. Deep inside reside the answers but perhaps you are wary of what letting go might entail. Upon reflection you may realize it’s time to leave a relationship that has been dragging you down, maybe you become aware that you have not been giving your family your full attention lately and need to make changes to your work schedule. Possibly you don’t even need to reflect because as you read these words you’ve understood the answer for so long now but are just afraid to conquer it, like finally giving up smoking, kicking the social media habit, or, once and for all to stop drinking.

The point here is not to get down on yourself but to say, it’s time for a change. So with all the beauty of the changing leaves, take a hint from nature and let your old habits, beliefs, and insecurities, fall to ground to make way for a stronger you in the following months ahead.

Take some time for self reflection, get comfortable, make up some tea or coffee and sit in silence. Consider the things you need to let go of and begin today. Happy New Beginnings!
