So, here we are Wednesday, the middle of the week and I’m wondering if you’ve committed to the first small change?(read Dec 2nd’s blog) Why is this small change, “showing up for yourself” so important? Well, before we plow forward on this journey we need to make a commitment. I know, I know, not many of you out there are fond of that word. It’s almost like putting something in ink or signing on the dotted line with blood. But let’s look at this together.
Let’s say we decide to take a trip from California to New york, we plan our dates, fill the tank with gas, make sure we have our wallet, and turn on our trusty GPS and off we go. This is just a few of the many things we do before we decide to leave. Decide being the key word. We’ve made a decision to go, we’ve committed to the trip. Without this decision and commitment we wouldn’t know what to do. Do we go? Do we stay? Should we go now and If so, where are we actually going? What road should we go down? Stop, go, stop, go. How frustrating!
This is how a lot of us make our so called commitments, one step forward and two steps back. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to follow through with something that could have an amazing affect on your life?
I realize this first small change may be the toughest one of the whole year, I know because it’s only Wednesday of week 1 and I’m saying to myself, “what in the world did I just get myself into?” I’m wondering, “can I really do this, make a weekly change for a year?” The more of you who commit with me, the stronger we’ll all be to follow through. Seeing the immense changes in individuals who took my 5-month course is what makes my commitment that much easier.
Either way, whether you chose 3 months or 6, decide to go the full year, it will be fulfilling to make a choice and stick with it.
Individual commitment to a group effort – that is what makes a team work, a company work, a society work, a civilization work.
